Like every good Boondock Ma, I cook, and on occasion, have been known to clean. I knit, crochet, and have some experience with a needle 'n thread. We play in the garden. Pa tills it the old fashioned way, by hand, with a shovel and hoe. Come harvest time, we can and freeze the resulting bounty. Don't use those newfangled electronic dishwashers. My dishes git done up by hand, then dry all natural like in the strainer. I make my own laundry detergent, and hang my clothes out to dry. I'll hang my head in shame and admit, I haven't gotten 'round to tryin' my hand at makin' my own bar soap. It's on the list... We heat with wood, which comes in right handy durin' those wet, cold winter months for dryin' our clothes on the rack. We git our water from a well, although we do leave the pumpin' to an electrical gadget, simply known by most as a "well pump". Our young-uns git their exercise the old fashioned way as well. They run 'n play outside in the fresh country air. They also pitch in and help with the wood splittin' and stackin'. No cable tee-vee in our humble home, but lots o' readin', courtesy of the public library in town. We're homeschoolin' folks, and have a grand time with that. Somewhere down the line we got it in our heads that learnin', like work outta be fun! I have two young-uns at home, and two all grown up, the oldest of which is hitched and got two young-uns of her own! My second oldest is doin' a great job of forgin' ahead in the big city, and has even started her own bakin' and caterin' business. All four of my young-uns are doin' me right proud!
Oh, Connie!!! I am so sorry... I hadn't heard! I pray that God will wrap his arms around you and keep you close in His comforting love. Please know that I care and am here for you... Will pray for you and the kids during this time..... hugs Marcia
Thank you all for your comments and words of support.
Kimmi, your visit helped so much! More than you know.Thank you for coming, and for your continued thoughts and "mental hugs"
Carol, I don't know what I would've done without your help, as well as yours, Katies and Moms presence in Roseburg. If not for you I couldn't have been there at the end, and I really don't think I could've handled that. Thank you for your prayers and continued help and support.
Sheila, thank you for following, and for your prayers. I'm having a hard time getting back into the old routine again but will stop by and visit you soon.
I'm so sorry, I thought something had to wrong however, I'm so sad it was something so horrible. I've been checking to see why we haven't heard from you and I'm so glad I checked today because you will be in my prayers and thoughts and how I wish I could get to you and just sit down let you cry while you tell me more about the wonderful man, friend, father, you were blessed with. Please share more about him as you are able, it does help to tell about the person you loose.
Connie, I like what Kim said, sending you mental hugs everyday. Count me in on that too! Sending prayers and mental hugs!!!!! You have been so much in my thoughts... I know there is nothing we can say to lessen your load, but I do know that you and the kids just knowing that we CARE helps... so please know that... and even across the miles, Connie, I am here for you!!
Oh, Dear Connie, I am so sorry to read about your loss. My heart goes out to you. I cannot say how much my heart goes out to you and your children. Please, and I mean this, if you need anything - an eye to read a message, a friend to call, a place to escape - please email me. Your friend.
Thank you all so much! Words can't express how much your messages mean to me and to the kids.
I'm sorry I haven't been responding as I should, and wanted to. For some reason this last week has been particularly difficult for me. I am going to try to update my blog again soon, as well as visit all of you.
